Did you know?

The summons for displaying an invalid ticket (i.e. has already passed its duration) is RM30. Compare this to the summons for NOT displaying any ticket (you get fined RM100). Wow.

What can we learn from this?
Yep, it's better to display an old ticket than no ticket.

How to check for existing MBPJ summons:

1. Go to http://eps.mbpj.gov.my/splk/search.asp
2. From the dropdown Jenis Carian, select No Kenderaan (i.e. vehicle registration number)
3. Then under Maklumat Carian,  enter your vehicle registration number, without a space e.g. abc1234
4. Hit the "Cari" button to search the records
5. When the results are displayed, click on the entry under the "No. Kompaun" heading for details. You may print a copy of the compound by clicking the "Cetak Salinan Kompaun" button, or find a new compound with "Cari Semula".
6. Write down this Summons Number for later use.

How to pay for MBPJ summons online:

1. Go to http://eps.mbpj.gov.my/loginPengguna3.aspx
2. If this is the first time paying online, you'll need to register yourself. Click the link in "Sila klik disini untuk mendaftar jika anda belum mendaftar."
3. If you've forgotten your password, click the link in "Jika anda lupa kata laluan anda, sila klik disini".
4. When you first register yourself, these are the required details:

  • Name
  • User ID (NRIC, Passport number)
  • Password
  • Email address
5. After logging in, from the dropdown box Kemudahan, select Kompaun Trafik & Pelbagai
6. Under "No Kompaun", fill in the Summons Number you wrote earlier.
7. Hit the "Cari" button.
8. In the results shown, tick the entry for the compound you wish to pay (tick box is next to the "Amaun" heading), then click "Tambah Di Senarai" (add to list)
9. Finally, tick the entry in the list which you wish to pay, then click the "Bayar" (pay) button.

Note: By paying online, I noted that my summons payable was reduced:

  • RM30 summons appeared as RM15.

  • RM100 summons appeared as RM30

I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the discount.

10. Click "Kad Kredit" to complete payment with credit card.
11. After payment is successful, you can view your past transactions paid under "Rekod Transaksi" in the main dashboard, and print a copy of the payment slip.

Disclaimer: Although the summonses above were discounted when I paid online, I have learned that the amount discounted may vary for different users. The main lesson to take away is: Pay online to get a discount, but expect some differences in the discount given.

Update: Given that different users are reporting receiving different discounts, there seems to be some confusion about what discount to expect. How much discount did you receive? What was the situation surrounding your fine? Please let me know in the comments section, i'm very interested to hear from you!

  1. I try this but never seen anything discount from RM 100 to RM 30. Only See RM 100 reduce to RM 70 only. It is still expensive!

    1. I understand your frustration, and the only consolation is you did get a discount. That's all i can offer, really. The best situation is of course to be compliant with the rules, but failing that, perhaps the next best thing to do is to carry an old ticket with you, and display it after you've parked (in my experience, the fine is RM30). A much lower fine than if no ticket. Hope this helps. And thanks for bringing to light that users may receive different discounts!

  2. Does that mean that the latest update is MBPJ would only discount RM30 to RM70 instead of reducing by RM70 to only RM30?

  9. The discount is given based on how long you had been summoned, if less than 2 weeks, you should get 70% discount. Meaning pay 30 for fine or 100.

    1. Thanks for your observation! I've actually asked MBPJ how long it takes them to update their system after issuing a summons. Hopefully we'll hear a response from them soon, and will update this space then. I'm following your blog now!

  15. Hi, I just got a parking compound for parking in a housing estate. Was visiting a friend and parked at the roadside together with other cars. Not blocking anyone or anything. There were no lines on the road and no signboards to say parking not allowed. Is it true you cannot park in front or near somebody's house unless you live there???

  17. I didnt check this website when i made the payment. However my method was pretty much the same. I got a parking summon and i've waited for 2 working days for them to update it into their system *am to lazy to pay over the counter haha*. Of course i registered, searched the compound number and added it into my list for payment. My summon was supposed to be rm100 and i've double checked at the mbpj's semakan kompaun site beforehand but to my suprise, the one that appeared in my list is only rm30. Do note that i made the payment only 3 days after the summon was issued. At first i thought there were some glitch in their system but i came across this site and im truly relieved to know that i actually received 70% off haha.

    1. Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This supports Zhariff's point above that if you pay 2-3 days from the ticket date, you only pay RM30. The internet really is a powerful source of collective knowledge when many people contribute :)

    1. Hi Kin Sam, i wish i could be of more help, but personally i think it's too late for online payment. You could still check online to see if the summons is available for payment. If it isn't, i'm afraid you'll have to follow the letter's instructions and follow up with a visit to the MBPJ counter. Let us know how it goes?

  21. 2 months ago I received a summons at bukit gasing area, me and my friend park at same road side, but only I get the summons...
Yesterday, received letter from MBPJ which to chase for payment, if not will have court issue...
Today pay via online, I still have deduction RM30 (I need to pay RM70 rather than RM100). Should I feel appreciate?

    1. Maybe your vehicle was the last one before the enforcement officer met his/her quota? (Is there a quota?) Or before his shift was over? Just guessing.
I've heard of 1-2 people who chose to ignore the court warning... so far nothing has happened to them yet (but pls don't take this as advice, i'm just sharing my experience).
I think any discount is better than no discount, especially if payment is 2 months late...
MBPJ is just doing their job, collecting fines when the public didn't pay for parking space prepared for them. i think it's nice they give discounts, especially since not everyone is well-to-do, and because sometimes emergencies just make it impossible to find parking space at short notice.

  22. Thank you for your posting!
MBPJ website is messy and have too many buttons. I almost thought that I can't pay it online. Then, I googled and found your blog. Got to know about the discount some more (got 30% off).
I got the notis peringatan recently and am paying 3 out of my 6 summons only for now huhu.
Im working at a place where parking is very hard to get and double parking is an acceptable culture, but rather than kena saman double parking, better kena saman for old ticket (still keeping last year's ticket lol).

    1. You're welcome! I'm glad you found something helpful here to reduce your burden :) Yes, parking can be a frustrating experience for KL/PJ city folk. I've been there and thrown up my hands in despair countless times... I think it all goes back to town-planning and policies on automobiles, but that's another story altogether.

    1. I would try to double check every bit of information again, including:
      - correct district (MBPJ)?
      - correct number plate?
      - correct summons number?
Or maybe you could just allow another 1-2 working days for your online records to be updated (because we still don't know how MBPJ works internally), then check online again. Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks fot visiting! Not a must to wait till invalid date. As long as MBPJ has uploaded your summons record online, and you pay online, then you will get a discount. The earlier you pay (from the time your summons appear online), the larger the discount you get. :)
